Your patio door is usually the biggest piece of glass in the house, and it faces the pool, the sun and the storms. Guardian replaces old sliding glass patio doors and French doors with impact-rated patio doors that open wide, lock tight and are built to resist hurricane winds and flying debris.
We measure the opening, help you pick the panel layout, glass and frame color, pull the permit and install the new door in your existing opening. Once it is in, there is no shutter to put up over that opening before a storm.

If the entry door is on your list, try any of our 86 bronze impact double-door designs on a South Florida entry. We can measure and price both doors at the same free estimate.
Both come impact-rated for South Florida. The right choice depends on how wide the opening is, how much floor space you have and the style of the house.

In South Florida the patio door does a lot of work. It is the way out to the pool, the lanai and the grill, the biggest view in the house, and a large opening the wind can find in a hurricane. A good patio door gives you wide, clear views, slides or swings smoothly every day, helps keep the cool air in and keeps the house secure.
Guardian Impact Windows & Roofing installs impact sliding glass doors and impact French doors for homes across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. You choose the style, panel layout, glass and frame color. We take care of the measuring, the permit, the installation and the inspection.
Most older sliding glass doors use tempered glass. It is safety glass, but when it breaks it falls out of the frame and leaves the house open to wind and rain. Impact sliding glass doors use laminated glass, layers of glass bonded to a tough interlayer, set in a reinforced frame. The whole door is tested as one system against wind pressure and flying debris. If the glass cracks, it stays in the frame. That is why hurricane sliding glass doors can take the place of shutters on that opening.
Replacing a sliding glass door is more than swapping a panel. We remove the old door and frame, check the opening, install the new impact door to its approval and seal it against water. Then the city inspects the work and the permit is closed. The same process applies to outdoor French doors, so you can get the classic double-door look with the same storm protection.
Patio door replacement cost comes down to the size of the opening, the number of panels, the glass and the finish. Call 786-654-8273 or request a free estimate, and we will measure, show you your options and give you a written price.
The price depends on the size of the opening, the number of panels, the glass, the frame color and the condition of the opening. We measure at a free in-home estimate and give you a written price. Financing is available.
No. An impact-rated door is tested against wind pressure and flying debris, so it counts as protection for that opening on its own. There is nothing to put up or take down before a storm.
Sliding doors suit wide openings and patios where furniture sits close to the door, because nothing swings. French doors give a classic look and open the full width of the frame, but need clear floor space to swing. We can show you both at the estimate.
No. Impact ratings belong to a complete door system, frame, glass, hardware and anchors tested together. New glass in an old frame does not make it an impact door, so we replace the whole unit.
Yes. Replacing an exterior door needs a building permit in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Guardian pulls the permit and schedules the final inspection.
Miami-Dade and Broward are in Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which has the strictest product-approval and installation rules. Doors there need approval for HVHZ use. We check the approval for your county when we quote.
They can help. Opening protection is one of the items on Florida's wind mitigation inspection, and the credit usually depends on every opening being protected. Ask your insurance agent how new impact doors would change your premium.
