Impact-rated sliding windows that glide open sideways for the breeze, never swing into a walkway, and stay closed through hurricane season. Measured and installed by our own crew.

Sliding windows, also called horizontal rollers or gliders, have a sash that rolls left or right on a track inside the frame. Nothing swings out into a walkway, a patio or a pool cage, and there is no heavy sash to lift, so a slider is one of the easiest windows in the house to open.
Guardian installs the ES-EL200 horizontal roller from the ES Windows Elite line. It is large missile impact rated and glazed with laminated glass, so the window protects the opening on its own and the shutters can come down for good.
Sliders fit wide, shorter openings best: bedrooms, living rooms facing the street and rooms along a side yard. For a tall opening, a single hung or picture window is usually the better match, and we will tell you which at the estimate.

Open the window visualizer on our Impact Windows page, pick Horizontal roller, then switch between the five ES frame colors to compare the before and after. When you find a look you like, we bring real frame and glass samples to your free estimate.
Every ES-EL200 is built to the measured size of your opening. Pick the layout that fits the wall, then the frame color. In XO and XOX, X is a panel that slides and O is a fixed panel, read from outside the house.

Sliding windows are one of the most practical window styles for a South Florida home. The sash rolls sideways on a track, so the window opens with one hand, never swings into a walkway or pool deck, and lets a wide strip of breeze through. Guardian Impact Windows and Roofing replaces old sliders, jalousies and single-pane windows with hurricane impact sliding windows across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Our horizontal roller windows are the ES-EL200 from the ES Windows Elite line, measured to each opening and installed by our own crew. There are no cranks or hinges to wear out, and keeping the bottom track clear of sand and leaves keeps the sash rolling smoothly. The honest trade-off: only part of the glass opens, one panel on a two-panel slider and the two end panels on a three-panel unit. If you want the whole opening to swing wide for the breeze, a casement window does that.
Miami-Dade and Broward are in Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which has the strictest product-approval and installation rules in the state. The ES-EL200 is large missile impact rated, and its laminated glass holds together if wind-borne debris hits it, so the opening stays closed. We match each window to the wind pressure your home requires, pull the permit and schedule the city inspection that closes it out.
Choose laminated glass, or insulating laminated glass with a Low-E coating for more comfort. ES lists a solar heat gain coefficient of 0.24 for the ES-EL200 with clear insulating laminated Low-E glass, which means most of the sun's heat stays outside. Laminated glass also cuts street noise and helps protect floors and furniture from fading.
Every sliding window replacement starts with a free in-home estimate. We measure each opening, show you frame colors and glass, and tell you honestly where a slider makes sense and where a single hung, casement or picture window would serve you better. Then our crew removes the old windows, installs the new ones and handles the permit through the final inspection. Guardian is a Certified General Contractor (CGC1524314), local, licensed and insured, with 15+ years of experience.
It depends on the size of each opening, two or three panels, the glass package and how many windows you replace at once. We measure every opening at a free in-home estimate and give you a written price. Ask about 2.9% APR or 60 months no interest while the sale lasts.
A horizontal sliding window, or horizontal roller, moves side to side. A vertical sliding window moves up and down, which is a single hung or double hung window. Horizontal sliders suit wide, shorter openings. Hung windows suit taller ones.
Yes. Replacing windows needs a building permit and inspections in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. We pull the permit, install the windows and schedule the city inspection that closes it out.
Yes, when it is sized for it. Bedrooms need an emergency escape opening, and ES publishes egress sizes for the ES-EL200. We check every bedroom opening at the estimate so the new window meets code.
No. Impact sliding windows protect the opening on their own, so most homeowners stop putting up shutters before a storm.
Impact windows plus a wind mitigation inspection can help you qualify for windstorm discounts. Ask your insurance company what they offer.
Yes. Sliding glass doors are a separate product with their own sizes and ratings. See our patio doors page, or ask about both at the same estimate.
